September Fishing Report 2013
Well that’s another month of the fishing calendar over and done, it’s not been a bad month on the fishing front, but that can’t be said of the weather. I’m sure we have our own little eco-system here at Redwell. Apart from that there have been some good individual fish caught.
Another Grass carp close to 20lbs by Colin from the summer wine gang, on float rod 6lb line, 12 hook, centre pin and bread on the hook, fishing in the back pond behind chicken island, a good piece of angling by him to keep it out of the snags and bushes located there, well done Colin.
Three big perch have also fallen to two anglers, one by Brian an associate member from the top end of the lake, weighing in at dot on 3lbs. The other two by Peter the bailiff both being very close to the 3lb mark. Pictures can be seen in the gallery along with others. I expect to see a few more being caught as this is the time of year for them, and I know for a fact that there are bigger in the lake to be caught.
In general the fishing has slowed a little this month but it’s still good with decent bags of Bream and Roach being caught on the pole, Waggler and feeder. On the pole it has been paste outscoring other baits, but still don’t neglect expander or hard pellets or small cubes of meat that have been tempting to some nice size roach, Carp have also fallen to the paste approach on the pole just make sure your tackle is up to it. I have had a few sessions on the feeder this month fishing single or double hair rigged corn with some good bags of bream and a couple of decent carp as a bonus, plus I have fished the waggler on paste close in the margins, with some nice carp to 14lbs plus decent bream in the 2 to 4lb bracket, just remember sit a bit back from the water’s edge and try to be quiet and be patient they will eventually come. Just as I’m sat here writing this I can see Mo one of our residents doing exactly what I have just written and he has just had 4 decent size bream and he has just landed another. He tends to fish close in most of the time and is always successful.
If you do have a notable catch or decent bag of fish or just a really enjoyable days fishing, please let us know as we welcome your comments.
