FISHING REPORT

July is not normally a good month on the coarse fishing scene; the high pressure normally puts the fish off the feed during the main part of the day.  The early morning and evening are the best parts of the day to try your luck but there is alway an exception to every rule and the lake has fished extremely well with all species being caught throughout the whole of the day.

Bream and Roach have been caught on all the usual methods with meat, corn, maggot, bread and the new fibre paste from Sonubaits proving effective.

We are glad to report that the new pegs on the South side of the lake  have been fished regularly and with considerable success over the past couple of months, especially by the Summer Wine Gang.  However, we  did have one complaint from Doug who claimed the island was in his way and kept stealing his floats!  Apart from that there were good catches to float and feeder tactics from these pegs.

There were plenty of Carp on the surface but they proved difficult to catch.  Colin Marsh had a brilliant session the day after the last match with Carp and big Bream to feeder and pole tactics .  Corn and meat were the winning baits.  He was fishing from the new double peg.

Our second Members’ Match took place on 31st July. Seven members took part. It was not an easy day and all anglers found bites hard to come by at the start apart from John Robinson who managed to put four good Bream in the net before anyone else caught. Carp showed later in the match with nine caught between 5 anglers to pole a nd feeder.
