The excellent local Inn (a 17th Century Coaching House) is a short 5 minute walk from the fisheries, offering a fine selection of good food and ales, and many other pubs and restaurants are within a few minutes drive.
In the Lune Valley itself there are numerous attractions, not least the picturesque market town of Kirkby Lonsdale with its delightful 17th and 18th Century buildings and views greatly admired by Turner and Ruskin, among others.
The historic city of Lancaster, with its magnificent castle, Priory and many fine Georgian buildings is only a few miles away, as is the bustling resort of Morecambe with its stunning newly re-designed seafront, and Heysham Village – don’t miss the famous Nettle Beer!
Morecambe Bay is renowned for having the most spectacular migratory bird watching in the country and the RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve is close by at Silverdale – a birdwatchers dream.
The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are accessible in under an hours drive from Redwell Fisheries and both have their own unique charms, waiting to be explored at your leisure.
